Production

Step 1

Raw material

Bauxite

The production of aluminum begins with the ore. This ore contains, among other things, aluminum oxide: we call this ore "bauxite.

The alumina is separated from the bauxite using the Bayer process. The raw material resulting from this process, pure aluminum oxide, is called 'alumina'. The alumina is processed into aluminum. From approximately 4 kg of bauxite, 1 kg of aluminum is extracted.

Step 2

Most produced metal

Aluminum

Aluminum is known as a lightweight metal, it's corrosion resistant and is also a good thermal conductor. Before pure aluminum can be extruded, it is pre-shaped into solid cylinders, called ‘billets’. These are preheated to 400-500 degrees Celsius and then pressed through the die under very high pressure.

Step 3

Aluminum profile - 4901

Extrusion mold

The aluminum is pressed and drawn through the die. The die contains form holes which give the extrusion profile its shape. After extrusion, the profile lands on a long table where it cools slowly and is held in shape. Cooling and stretching are important steps, because they determine the final dimensions precisely.

Step 4

Untreated profile - 4901

Brut Rail

Bare aluminum (also called untreated aluminum) is aluminum that is not coated or anodized. Aluminium initially has a shiny appearance that will dull over the years.

Step 5

Profile treatment - 4901

Powder coating

Powder coating, or powder paint, is sprayed onto the aluminum with an electrostatic sprayer. By making the powder paint electrostatic and grounding the aluminum profile, the powder sticks to the profile. Then the profile goes into the oven to melt the powder coating. In the oven, the powder coating flows out into a tight, adhesive layer. The formed layer is scratch, wear and impact resistant.

Step 6

1st injection mold from 1990

Runner Injection mold

This injection mold for plastics is used to convert thermoplastics (plastics) into products. During injection molding, plastic granules are melted and injected into the mold cavities under high pressure. Each cavity has the shape of the desired product. During cooling the plastic solidifies again, the mold opens and the products are ejected.

Step 7

Finished product - 2905 - 4901

Curtain rail system

2905 is manually operated for light and medium weight curtains. A rail with many possibilities. This is the ideal multi track profile for combining net curtains and curtains. Due to its low height of 8mm, the rail is hardly noticeable.

4900 is a manually operated built-in rail for light and medium weight curtains. The slanted sides provide a sleek look
